When he started on the radio: Tony (EA2PA) started on the radio in 1991, on the 11 meters band, and continued to operate on that band for about two years.  These years were very intense and full of activities. Tony learned a lot about radio during this time. In 1993 he decided to obtain the EC novice licence, and the used the call sign EC2ABT during this time. Six months later –in 1994-, he upgraded to the EA licence with the call sign he holds now.

His main areas of interest: Tony is keen on SSB and CW mainly on HF bands. Although he prefers high bands, especially 10 and 15 meters, he is also active on 6 meters with the call sign EH2AIJ. He is a keen contester and DX chaser. When not in a contest, he does most of his contacts from his mobile station. His station consists of a Kenwood TS-2000 transceiver and a vertical antenna.

In 2001 he took part in his first DX-pedition. It was a real adventure in Izaro island (EU-134).

For Tony, this was an unforgettable experience. Living in an uninhabited, with nothing else than huge rocks around and hundreds of seagulls hovering over your head is certainly not easy to forget about. However, it was a very rewarding experience in all of its aspects

In 2002 he took part in his first large scale DX-pedition, this time form the Republic of the Maldives (AS-013) with the call sign 8Q7ZZ. This DX-pedition provided him with great experience handling pile-ups. It was also provided him with a chance to know thoroughly all the aspects that a DX-pedition involves. The DX-pedition was a big success. More than 25,000 contacts were made, 330 of which on 6 meters.

Now he continues to do contests and chase DX. You may well work him in a contest with the ED2JJ or ED2TA callsigns.
