2002 ANNUAL PARA VHF-UHF ROUNDUP CONTEST

I. CONTEST PERIOD

II. OBJECTIVES. The objectives of this contest are as follows:
A. For all amateur radio stations to contact as many amateur radio
stations as possible in the allocated contest period.
B. To provide a venue for testing propagation.
C. To promote club activity.
D. To develop and enhance fellowship and friendship among amateurs
radio stations.
E. To collect as many QSL cards for award credit.
F. To promote International Morse Code as the second language.
G. To enjoy the contest.
III. ELIGIBILITY. All licensed amateur radio stations are encouraged to participate and
must operate within the limits of the license.

V. ENTRY CLASSIFICATIONS
A. Single operator fixed station single band

E. Multi-operator fixed station single band
F. Multi-operator fixed station dual band
G. Multi-operator field station single band
H. Multi-operator field station dual band
I. Single operator QRP station single band
J. Single operator QRP station dual band
VI. RULES
A. An operator must use only ONE callsign during the entire contest.
B. All antennas must be physically connected by wires/cables to the
transmitters and receivers.
C. Contacts made on the EMERGENCY frequency, 145.000 MHz are not
valid.
D. This contest prohibits multiple single band or dual band entries
from the same station. However, a station may join another station
provided that these stations independently operate their OWN transceiver
and antennas physically connected by wires/cables to the transceiver.
E. Any participating stations or club stations with a special event
callsign MUST secure a valid permit from the NTC prior to the contest.
Failure to obtain a valid permit will be declared ineligible for an
award.
F. Any participating stations or club stations in the field station
category who wishes to operate outside its district MUST secure a valid
permit from the NTC prior to the contest to qualify for an award.
G. The use of repeaters, telephones, telegrams, packet, fax
machines, SSB, the Internet, electronic mail (e-mail) or any other means
of modes are not allowed to obtain a valid contact.
H. All CW contacts must be sent and received using means requiring
real time human intervention, detection and initiation.
I. No contacts should be made on cross band.
J. Single band entrants who make contacts on the other band are
encouraged to submit logs for checking purposes.
K. Contacts made with mobile stations have QSO points but has no
multiplier credits.
L. A QRP station must maintain 10 watts maximum power output on VHF
and 5 watts on UHF.
VII. EXCHANGE
Phone: RS Report, zip code and handle.
CW: RST Report, zip code and handle.
VIII. MULTIPLIER. The multiplier is the number of different zip code worked. The zip code
is composed of four-digit number issued by the Philippine Postal
Corporation.
IX. POINTS
A. Contacts between stations on different Districts are worth three
(3) points on VHF and UHF.
B. Contacts between stations on the same District but different
region are worth two (2) points on VHF and UHF.
C. Contacts between stations on the same District and region are
worth one (1) point on VHF and UHF.
X. SCORING. The final score for all stations is the total QSO points multiplied by
the total number of different zip code worked.
XI. AWARDS
A. Colored certificates will be awarded to the top-scoring
station in first, second and third place in each category and to the
station that made the Longest Haul contact.
B. Black and white certificates will be given to all
participating stations that have submitted their logs on time.
C. The result of this contest including all the participating
stations in all categories will be published in the PARA Newsletter and
announced during the netcall.
D. All awards will be issued to the licensee of the station used.

XII. LOG INSTRUCTIONS
A. Use the universal coordinated time (UTC) in logging the contacts.
B. All sent and received exchanges are to be logged.
C. A station may be worked ONLY ONCE per band for QSO point credit
during the entire contest.
D. Logs must be checked for duplicate contacts, correct QSO points
and multipliers. Submitted logs must have duplicate contacts clearly
shown.
E. Log sheet must contain band, serial number, time in UTC, station
worked, exchange sent and received, zip code, handle, multiplier and QSO
points.
F. Logs must be submitted on a typewritten form.
G. Each entry must be accompanied by a summary sheet showing all
scoring information, entry classification, contestant's name and address
in BLOCK LETTERS and a signed declaration that you have observed all the
contest rules and regulations, as well as the laws and regulations for
amateur radio.
H. A copy of the amateur radio station license and the valid permit for
special callsigns must be submitted.
I. QRP stations MUST indicate on their summary sheets the actual
maximum power output
XIII. DISQUALIFICATION
A. Violation of amateur radio rules and regulations of the contest.
B. An entrant whose log is deemed by the Contest Committee to contain a
large number of discrepancies may be disqualified.
Action and decision of the PARA Contest Committee are official and
final.
XIV. DEADLINE. Submitted logs must be postmarked NO LATER than May 18, 2002 for phone
while July 21, 2002 for CW mode. Logs postmarked or personally delivered
after the deadline will be declared ineligible for an award.
