5H1HS/1 on Pemba

From 11th to 12th of November we flew with a little Cessna to Pemba Island. After a half our flight we landed on the Karume Airport in Pemba. Our hotel, the Swahili Divers Guest House, was 15 minutes far from the airport. The conditions for the antenna was very fine. The hotel is situated on the top of a hill and the owner had no problems with my wires. I erected the antenna between the balcony and a big mango tree. At 16:30 local time I was ready for work. Jan (OK2JS) and Fred (PY7ZZ) announced my trip to Pemba one day before in some bulletins and so I started with a huge pile up. I interrupted my work only for dinner and breakfast. Next day at 14:32 local time I did the last QSO with DL1DTC and I put down the antenna. Two hours later we flew back to Zanzibar. It was a succesful expedition with 1074 QSO's in about 20 hours. Next time I will visit another tanzanian island.
