FM with the Icom IC-720A
These are the modifications I did to my IC-720A shortwave TRX to
enable it for FM operation on the 10m-band. It contains some
aspects that may also be useful for modifying other transceivers.
DB0ADF, the Automatic-Direction-Finder
Some words about the remote controllable Doppler-direction finder
station located at the QTH of our club station,
It's not yet very useful, because it lacks a really good user
interface. Suggestions are welcome.
Here is a description of a RLC and impedance
meter using the PC soundcard, and a rudimentary Linux-program
with a text-based user interface. All you need externally is one
reference resistor and an SPDT switch for calibration.
The software is open source and will be put up here soon after some
Packet Radio and SSTV on the Toshiba
Tecra 730XCDT with Linux
Using the sound-card of this notebook, you can operate in
packet radio and SSTV from portable without additional TNC or
converter hardware. And even better, you don't need anything from
Microsoft to do so. This page may be helpful for owners of other
notebooks as well.
MININEC, the antenna calculation program originally written
in BASIC, has been ported to C by me (not only for UNIXes).
I will however not yet put the source code here because I'm
not aware of the legal issues about this fine piece of software.
But I really would like to, so that some people can
test it and compare the results to the BASIC program
to find the bugs I possibly added.
If it could be made open source, this could be a way to
further improvements and expansions.
Please tell me if you know about copyright issues or legal
regulations to re-publish a modified MININEC source !
