AUTOMATIC BELT-DRIVE TRANSMISSION
|
An automatic belt-drive transmission allows the rider to open the throttle and go without having to shift the transmission. A drive pulley on the end of the crankshaft transmits power through a rubber belt to a combination driven pulley and centrifugal clutch. Power from the clutch is transmitted through a reduction gear to the rear wheels. Both pulleys have one movable face that opens and closes according to engine RPM and load. This creates a variable ratio between the drive and driven pulleys; the same effect as shifting gears in a conventional transmission. |
