so i build an antenna at friday night and have to tear it down at the dawn of monday morning.
Even better, go out in the wild with the above 40m portable Quad / convertible Dipole.
One learns much about antennas, trying to deploy any in what i call my capacitive hell.
I tried some variations on a 10m Inverted Vee, to make use of the little available space.
This protubed variant had 1:1.1 SWR on 28.450 MHz and performed really satisfying under fantastic conditions in the contest.
The side view of the installation, shows the gravity induced final orientation of that thing.
The feed element of the Quad in the top picture, also makes a fine Vertical Dipole, when hung down from the balcony, using 5m of a fish pole to gain some offset from the house. The feed point then has a height of about 15m above ground.
Unfortunately this antenna picks up all the noise from the house and so i can work only the strongest stations. On TX i am one S-Level below these stations, using 100W against their 1kW and in pile ups i am often enough the first station to be called.
