TCP/IP network remote control
FT847-SuperControl is able to accept connections from client-computers via the tcp/ip network protocol. Of course, if you wish to use this feature, the tcp/ip-network must be installed to your system. Unfortuneately we can't go deeper in "how to install a tcp/ip-network", as this subject is too extensive to mention here in this users manual.
With this feature, we can connect to the program via LAN (local area network) or WAN (wide area network), therfore also connections via internet are possible. You can remote control your transceiver from a totally other location then. Unfortuneately it is not possible to gain realtime audio data from the server, but we are working on this feature. Some OM's have reportet, that they are successfully using additional software like "Netmeeting" or "ILink" to be able to transmit the audio data via a TCP-network. This software can be found in the internet for free download.
Starting the server:
To start the tcp/ip remote control, please
load the FT847-SuperControl
(picture 1.1 - tcp/ip network server-information-window)
In the first line you can see your server name and your server ip-adress. In the example the server name is "P3-700a" and the ip-adress is "192.168.0.126". Of course this data can be different to the data you can get on your own computer-setup. You'll need this data later to connect to the server from a client computer.
If you wish, you can set up a server password to restrict access to the server. Please enter your desired password to the textbox "Client Password (max. 5 chars)".
It is also possible to set up a special communication port in the textbox "Port number".
To take over the new made changes, please use the "start server" button.
In the blue textbox you can see all the connected computers later. Of course it is possible to connect more than one computer to the server. The button "exit" will end the server program and will disconnect all the connected clients.
You now have the basics to let other client computers connect to your server. So now we can go to the next part, on how to connect from a client computer.
Connect client computers to the server:
You also should have the full installation
package of FT847-SuperControl
(picture 1.2 - tcp/ip-network client-connection-window)
Please enter your server name or your server ip-adress to the empty text-box and connect to the server by using the button "connect". This will start the search for the specified computer name or ip-adress and will connect to the server, if the server was found in the network. In the example, we try to connect to the ip-adress "192.168.0.20". The last five entry's to the textbox will be saved to the system, so your entry's are still available the next time when you start this feature.
If the server requires a server-password, you can set up a password in the textbox "Enter a password for the server, if needed". Please also compare the port number with the port number of the server ! Otherwise the connection won't work !
When the connection-request was successful, you already can see actual s-meter-data, frequency's and modes provided by the server program. You now can change the frequency or mode on the client computer. Attention: not all functions are working yet ! This part is still under development. Also please be careful with the use of the "TX ON" button, as you can key the transceiver via remote !!!
With the button "disconnect" you can disconnect the connection to the server, the button "exit" will close the tcp/ip-network client-remote window.
