The Down East Sideband Society Worked All States award was established in 2023 and is available for $5.00 to cover printing and postage.  The DESS certificate is printed on matte photo paper and is suitable for framing.  If you have worked all fifty states on lower sideband, upper sideband, or CW this high quality certificate will look great on the wall of your shack.

Unlike the major Worked All States award, amateur operators don't have to pay postage to send us a heap of QSL cards, then pay postage for us to send them back to you.  Neither do we require you to make all your contacts "on our net" like the operators of "award nets" do.  After spending two years on the forty and twenty meter bands chasing QSL's in all states, our Secretary (KD3Y) finally achieved QSL's in all fifty states on several "award nets" when it became clear that all of those "award nets" only issue a WAS if all your contacts were made on their net.  So although he had over 300 QSL cards from QSO's from all fifty states, there wasn't a WAS award available unless he went to an "awards net"  and did it all over again by making contacts ON THEIR NET.  

The Down East Sideband Society issues their Worked All States award to any amateur operator with a valid FCC license who completes the application and affirms that they have made a contat in each of the fifty states. Download the DESS Worked All States PDF application here
