Your thoughts and concerns. How is the new format working?
Do you see a role for remote receiver sites? Who pays for them
and maintains them? Who secures the site. (Free)
Dues
The ugly question! Should they be higher? CWRA has
not had a change in 20 years!! We have kept it there with frugal
management. There isn't anything fancy... the repeaters just work
properly. This type of management does not lend itself to a lot
of newsletters, picnics and grand annual meetings with prizes,
presents and center pieces. Nor does it build a reserve for equipment
replacement.
This was brought home most dramatically when the
tower fell down. Only generous donations put 88 back on the air.
The entire antenna system had to be replaced. All the existing
system had been reduced to just so much junk.
So, what do you think about the dues structure?
No one likes increases. But to keep 88 going ... its got to happen
sometimes sorta soon.

Dues (Cont.)
We have some spare parts for the machine. They are
no longer available from Motorola! As such, they have become scarce
and expensive. It is reasonable to consider that one day we just
can't fix it!
Its been a great run since 1977, but...
Replacement isn't all that far off. And it will
cost thousands of dollars to match what is in place now. This
is just the repeater. The duplexer and antennas are all OK (for
now).
Note The New Address
Annual Meeting
The by-laws state that CWRA has an Annual Meeting in the first
quarter of the year.
The Annual Meeting will be on March 4th, 2000. That is on a Saturday.
It will be done a little differently this year!
The Meeting will be at the Roxbury Tavern! Not
the Dorf Haus. Its in the next Block.
The meeting starts sometime after noon. Order from the grill
whenever and whatever you wish. We are set up to be there at 1:00
PM to have lunch. The meeting will start at 2:00 PM.
Election results will be announced and the board introduced.
There will be a discussion of:
- The repeaters. How are they doing?
- The "new tower noise problem". It seems to be gone.
- Remote receivers. Additions or changes?
- Autopatch on 94. Should we keep it?
- Open discussion. Talk about whatever you want to talk about.
We will have on hand copies of coverage maps and repeater specs.
Send in your thoughts comments and concerns. Better yet, come
to the meeting and express them. Share your thoughts with others.
Maybe we will change something. Or find out why something can't
be changed. Than it might not bug ya so much.!
