In July of 1996, we made a expedition to Azores Islands, the inicial destination was Faial Island. We have planed to made some MS QSO´s to Europe, but th distance is to far, so, we made only some QSO´s in MS to Portugal, IN50.

Also, we have contacted some USA EME stations to try to made a QSO in direct, or with some Tropo + MS propagation, but, the logistic conditions don´t have permited the tests. Azores have a very good position to try a Transatlantic VHF QSO to USA, but I bet on the Portugal - Brazil path, on FAI or F2 ...

Finaly, tanks to the staff of CU7CRA for the help in this unsucessful expedition.

But if the radio conditions fails, i found a fabulous natural conditions on Azores Islands, maybe in a future, Azores have good conditions for a quality and natural orientated Turism.
