The
cremation of The Southern West
Virginia Repeater Network was first
formed as a thought with Edgar
McKinney and myself.
Being a non-ham, Edgar taught me a lot
about amateur radio, repeaters and
more. I volunteered to be Edgar's
Editor in his dream/endeavor and thus
this page.

Edgar moved from Sinks Grove,
W. Va. to Fairlea, W. Va. today.
There are no helpers in the sparce

Due to Edgar's
home being a rental, Edgar and family
were evicted, as 61 other home occupants
were, by the new owner after that
owner's father dying. The new owner
"cleaned house" because his Dad were
very sloppy of keeping records and no
lease agreements. So, the new owner
evicted "all squatters".
Edgar and family told their Church what
were going on and a parishioner owned a
motel in Alderson, W. Va. offered them
shelter free. Their belongings were
stored at the old Lewisburg Wholesale
Company building in Roncerverte, W. Va.
Ergo, This organization's creation is on
hold.

Good news!
Edgar and family found a house in
Hinton, W. Va.. So the Coal
Fields Amateur Radio Emergency
Network is being revamped!
Side note: Barbara found work
delivering newspapers after her
boss died at Lewisburg Wholesale.
The business is closed and his son
owns the building and allowing
Edgar to store his "stuff" there.

Bad news.
Edgar's wife, Barbara, is divorcing
Edgar. According to Edgar, her daughter
told her mother a bunch of lies abd her
mother beleived her, Amber lied because
she wanted to stay up past 9PM to watch
TV and he caught her many times doing so
in early morning hours.
Her being a 9yo and ADHD and with
Opposite Defiance, it is understandable
what happened.
Barbara drove Edgar to hid daughter's,
Sarah Sydenstricker, in Shady Spring, W.
Va.
The Coal Fields
Amateur Radio Emergency Network is
on hold! But Edgar, in-spite of
the moves kept engineering and
learning how to deal with tower
owners, their construction,
plotting possible sites, trying to
reach out for hams to be
interested in helping him.

Resurrection
of interests on proceeding on developing
the Coal Fields
Amateur Radio Emergency Network.
After settling in an apartment,
Edgar and his son Eddie (his
daughter Beth got remarried to
Roger Hartsook - age 42, after her
first husband, Harlas
Sydenstricker died of cancer. Age
31), Edgar resumed his
Beckley contacts and rejoined the
Black Diamond Amateur Radio Club.
Among the 25 members, there were
only one interested in Coal
Fields Amateur Radio Emergency
Network. Before they could work on
getting others, his contact died
in 20070819.
After the refusals for help fom
others, Edgar decided to go
"underground" for a while and work
on his dream.
I just waited till Edar needed me
in this project of edditing for
him.

Ed using his
internet connection and had a year or
two earlier gotten reacquainted with his
ole' girl friend, Terrie KINCAID Boyd,
from when they dated in 1973 to 2976.
Their lives diverged then.
Ed kept on engineering and revamped the
linking methodology after talking with
Ray Novac of Icom America at Dayton
Hamvention.
The method will be high speed digital
microwave on 5825 Mcs.
It is by Ubiquiti
Networks, Inc. from 685 Third
Avenue, 27th Floor, New York,
New York 1001. Their site is https://www.ui.com/.
The methodology of how to and such is
still being engineered. But their costs
and methodology is turning the microwave
point to point upside down!
And as you can tell, I am still Ed'
editor. Typos n all!

Edgar has
been working hard on his dream and I
foresee him marrying Terrie Boyd soon.
He went to her alumni prom and he is
hooked!
He is still working on his dream and
started to incorporate counties in
Eastern Kentucky so he is busy
calculating possible sites and paths as
well plotting.

Tackett Boyd became Terrie Lee
KINCAID Tackett Boyd McKinney! She
stated, "After 41 years, I finally
caught him!"
He is taking a break for the honeymoon
period.
Edgar gained two grand kids, Joshua
Tackett - 10 and Jenna Tackett -7.
Terrie has full custody of them.
So Edgar is a Farther again!

He is getting a little
desperate to get it started.

Edgar and
Terrie is moving to Lancer, Kentucky. It
has the same zipcode of Prestonsburg but
in Kentucky they honor the towns that
another town annexes into it self! Note
that most mailing listing software does
not recolonize multiple town names under
one zipcode and still places
Prestonsburg as the town Edgar and his
new family is in!
Now Edgar has a pole for his two meter
beam. In the mean time he has gathered
some radios to use as a repeater at his
house to place AllStar and Echo Links on
so he can use am HT to stay in touch
with other hams.
He has resumed his efforts to get help!

Ediror's note
-- Today is Edgar's birthday. He has
seen 63 years now and his dream is still
just a dream since 1995. Very sad.
Edgar is beginning to feel that it is
all his fault nothing is happening and a
few months ago, a rename to Coal Fields
Amateur Radio Association may be better
for an association is much broader based
than a Network or Club. Also an
association can have lobbying powers vs
501c(3) clubs, take government
donations, and have other entities to
join like other clubs and associations,
municipalities like counties and/or
tows, companies and etc.
Co, Edgar is working on that angle too!
He needs at least five for the Board of
Directors and Five officers. According
to the Constitution, they can be both.

Edgar's diabetic step
son went to a hospital to prep for a
triple by-pass surgery. While there on
his paperwork stated he was a fall risk,
was in the X-Ray department. The
technician stood him up instead of
following the SOP and placing him on the
table horizontal, fell hit his head on
the corner of the X-Ray table causing a
brain bleeding.
Edgar had to slow down on his dream and
take care of th family.

Edgar informed he may give up his

Edgar
turned to FaceBook last year to drum
up some amateur radio operators to
help him to make his dream a reality.
At the writing of thie news, Edgar has
contacted over 200 hams on FaceBook.
|
|
|
Edgar
now has over 600 ham contacts on his
FaceBook. Why they are called
"Friends" when they are contacts?
Anyway he is giving a hard try.
Many asked him about his local club or
local hams. The club he use to belong
to, he left for he felt like an
outsider. After all, he is a West
Virginian living in Kentucky. He told
some the Amateur radio operator
population in this area of the
Appalachia is very scarce for VHF and
up. 83% licensed are not on the air at
all. From the remaining 17%, only 2% ~
3% is on VHF or higher in all modes.
The remainder is on HF and is very
hard to have HF near a hospital, which
is one of the areas CFARA is designed
to support ECOMM to n fro. |

Edgar
informed that if he does not get any
helpthis month, CFARA will die of
apathy!
Ed is very depressed. He told me he
prays a lot much more, and crys out to
GOD on this matter.
Edgar even told me he may give up
amateur radio all together in 2023
when hi license renewal comes due.
Ed's humor is fading as well. He is
having a hard time.

As of
last night 20190731 at midnight, Edgar
McKinney's dream died of an apathy
overdose.
After almost 25 years, Edgar worked on
what is now called Coal Fields Amateur
Radio Association (CFARA) from 1995
till last night.
He, being disabled with his eyesight
and in 2004 he had a 5 way by-ass on
his heart. Unbeknown to the surgical
team and not knowing his family
history, adoption, he had a bout with
"malignant-hypermedia" which left his
right arm with muscle and nerve
damage.
Edgar still kept working on his dream
till last night.
So, it may be resurrected, but with a
heavy laden-ed area of the Appalachia
with apathy, it is doubtful.

I asked Edgar
to post this up on the CFARA's site and
flash it out.
I hope there are others who can
resurrect CFARA.
I am his friend and physically equal to
him in many ways. I do not know how to
post on his site.
Edgar is now 65 years old and all his
life have had no real friends but two
besides me, General Victor Tomas (Tom)
Burgess [SKK - KD8BSJ], Fred Jones -
WA4SWF.
If anything new comes up with either
CFARA or Edgar, and I am alive, I will
post here!
