Tracking generator for HP8596E (AV4032B)

 

 

By using an AV4032B spectrum analyzer (which is a clone version of HP8596E by the 41st institute of CECT), I managed to do some test on the filters in this projects. For AV4032B, you can refer to: http://www.ei41.com/41en/Html/main.asp.

 

 

Narrow bandwidth module: 30/100/300Hz.

 

Internal: it is really the same as HP859x series spectrum analyzers.

 

As none tracking generator available with AV4032B, I try to build a naïve version. A mixer module and a 3921.4MHz CW signal is used for test.

The first LO of AV4032B is 3000-6821.4MHz, and the output level is about +10dBm. The level of 3921.4MHz is about -10dBm.

 

The filter is not connected.

 

The filter is connected. So, the 1013MHz filter has an insertion loss about 5.6dB.

 

 

Test on another filter. It’s center frequency is about 10.2385MHz.

The filter is connected. So, the filter has an insertion loss about 6.5dB.

 

 

Another mixer is used for test. It seems workable from 0-2.9G. The mixer is an s53mv type.
