Bob Hambly

Bob was first licensed in 1964 as a Novice Class licensee with a call sign of WN7BYD. He currently holds an Advanced Class license.

In 1989, Bob joined the ARMS Christian Fellowship Group, which he says is his main interest in amateur radio. He had discovered the group after meeting two hams (VE6CBI and WAØNPH) in Glennappen, Alaska, who told him about ARMS. Charlie (K7AQ) and Emil (W7FQ), who also live in Grants Pass, had also told him about it. Bob enjoys the Northwest Section Net every Thursday morning.

Bob and his wife, Mae, have two grown children, Tom and Libby, and four grown grandchildren, all working or attending college. In 1978, Bob retired from the Josephine County School District where he spent twenty-five years as an administrator and teacher.

The Hamblys attend First Christian Church in Grants Pass and spend at least one night a week working (or herding as he call it) about 80 kids during their activity night. They feed the kids supper and then have other activities for a group of disadvantaged kids in the area. He says, "At our age, it really wears us out, but we do enjoy them too."

Although Bob enjoys many verses from the Psalms, he cites Romans 1:11-12 as his favorite verses. "I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong--that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith."
