Northwest Report

November 2014

As was probably the case on many of our nets the subject of the summers extraordinarily hot temperatures was evident on our Thursday 80M ARMS Net reports from around the Northwest. The string of 100-plus days seemed never to end. But fall has arrived and cooler temps are here to be enjoyed by all.

As we noted in the last BEAM we opted to go to a rotational net control to spread the duties out over our membership. For the most part it has worked out well. Having said that, flexibility is part of the mix that makes it work.

Its been good to have Stan, KD6WZA, back on the air from Happy Camp, California. Stan is our southern station, as Wayne, VA7GF, is our northern station at Grand Forks, British Columbia. Stan is Pastor of the Happy Camp Bible Church and enjoys opportunities to ride with local Sheriffs deputies on patrol and special calls. Wayne has made several trips to Peru to assist Ray Rising, K4LWJ, with technical issues for the several broadcast stations including Radio Logos that reach ethnic populations with the Gospel in some very remote areas. (Waynes article with photos will be found elsewhere in this issue.)   Bob, WA7BYD, Grants Pass, Oregon, joins us when he can. I talked to him on the land-line this evening and suggested that instead of his wife Mae getting a walker, they might consider a Harley-Davidson! Wayne, WB7EIF, Monroe, Oregon, is Net Control for the ARMS 20M Net on Tuesdays. His wife has a Postal Service rural delivery route that adds up to lots of miles traveled. Dave, W7PTL, Port Angelus, Washington, (wife Ann) will return home on or about October 24th from a short-term Wycliffe missions trip to India to assist translators with English usage. (His article detailing that ministry will be found elsewhere in this issue.)

George, KA7HGE, Puyallup, Washington, and his wife Elsie keep busy in Bible study ministry and active with regular visits to the YMCA.  Ora, KE7BF, is in the hospital here in Sunnyside as I compose this report. He had initially been diagnosed as having kidney stones. Wife Connie took him on a hurried trip the ER last night and tests, including a CAT scan, led to a diagnosis of diverticulitis. Hes on antibiotics and will go home tomorrow. Keep them in your prayers. John, K7BXF, Gleed, Washington, keeps so very busy with his acreage during the summer months that he has not been able to check in. Here in October he and wife, Vi, are trailer-traveling here in the Northwest.

Mike, K7PTL, and wife Mary, K3PTL, Stevensville, Montana, enjoy their summers and early fall in the beautiful Bitterroot Valley. But the end of November will see them trailering south to Tucson for the winter months. And as for Chuck, N7AAG, I keep busy with daily visits to be with my wife Marilyn at Prestige Care here in town. I check into the 20M Net when I can and usually can make the Thursday 80M NW Net. This past year has had a number of bumps in our road, but time after time the Lord proves Himself faithful and well-able to care for His own.
