Midwest report

November 2014

The Midwest Section held our Annual Get Together this year in West Bend, Iowa at the Grotto of the Redemption. Construction was started in 1912 as Father Paul Dobberstein labored 42 years, winter and summer, setting ornamental rocks and gems into concrete. The Grotto is a composite of nine separate grottos, each portraying a scene in the life of Christ. We started with a tour, had lunch, then the annual meeting.  Members attending in the back row, Frank AGM and wife Vicky, Keith WAJGT, Neale KLHJ, Ken KBQBU, Roger WZMU and wife Joyce, Cindy K9IYO and husband Les, W9MGM. Front row, Craig KCYHU and wife Barb KDNEZ, Kens wife Cora, Tom AALF, and Max WQCB. The fellowship was enjoyed by everyone.

Membership in the Midwest increased by a couple members to include Roger, WZMU who is welcomed with open arms and now resides in Pella, Iowa. Roger graciously accepted the position of Secretary for the Midwest Section. He also volunteered to collect prayer request and distribute them to section members. Another active member from Rogers neck of the woods, Dennis KKDJ, who lives just outside of Pella Iowa.

Dennis, KKDJ, and I attended the 3900 club Hamboree in Bellevue, Nebraska on September 27th passing out information about ARMS. Any Section who would like to set up a display at a local hamfest in their area, please contact AALF, Tom Hauskins for assistance. The next hamfest is scheduled at Davenport, Iowa on November 2nd, 2014

The ARMS Midwest Section Saturday Net typically has 8 to10 check ins per week. The last few weeks we are averaging 12 to 14 check ins. We start at 7 AM CT on 3903.5 Mhz. All sections are welcome to check in.
