ARMS Midwest Section Annual Get-Together

Those in attendance were:

Tom Hauskins � AA�LF (Section Director) from Marion, IA, Frank Brodale � AG�M, and his wife Vicky Brodale from Cherokee, IA, Maxine Finck � W�QCB from Cedar Rapids, IA, Neale Thompson � K�LHJ from Northfield, MN, Les Hamilton � W9MGM and his wife Cindy Hamilton - K9IYO from Delano, MN , Keith Sykora � WA�JGT from Waseca, MN, Roger Stubbe � W�ZMU, his wife Joyce Stubbe from Pella, IA, Craig Rose � KC�YHU and Barbara Rose � KD�NEZ from Urbandale, IA, Kenneth Klay � KB�QBU and his wife Cora Klay from Luverne, MN, Bernie Lewiston - KB�L of West Bend, joined us for a short time as we were arriving. Bernie is Secretary/Treasurer of a similar organization, CARF (Christian Amateur Radio Fellowship http://www.carf.net/).

At 11:00 AM we gathered for a tour of the Grotto of the Redemption. The Grotto is an interesting display of unique stone work depicting scenes from the Bible. Rocks/minerals from all over the country and from overseas were used during 80 years of construction. www.westbendgrotto.com

At 12:00 PM we gathered at the Grotto Caf� for a light lunch. This provided the opportunity to make new friends and catch up with others.

Tom - AA�LF, the ARMS Midwest section Director convened our annual meeting held in the conference room at the Grotto at 1:00 PM.

Members attending the annual meeting:

Tom - AA�LF (Chairman), Frank - AG�M, Maxine - W�QCB, Neale - K�LHJ, Les � W9MGM, Cindy - K9IYO, Keith - WA�JGT, Roger - W�ZMU,, Craig - KC�YHU, Barbara - KD�NEZ and Kenneth - KB�QBU. Neal - K�LHJ opened the meeting with Prayer.

Tom acknowledged members and guests present at the meeting. Neal, K�LHJ commented that this was the largest gathering in recent memory.

Previous minutes: Minutes for the 2013 mtg. held in Owatonna do not exist. The members who were present at the Owatonna meeting in 2103, Neal, Keith, Tom & Maxine reported the only item of business was that the director and the assistant director traded positions.

Old Business:

There was no old business on the agenda or from the floor.

New Business:

We had several Offices that needed to be filled.

John - W�BIZ not present at the meeting but had accepted the Net Managers position and Frank -AG�M will provide info and guidance to him

Roger - W�ZMU will fill the role of Secretary

Keith - WA�JGT was reaffirmed as Assistant Director

Tom - AA�LF was reaffirmed as Director

The floor was opened for questions, comments, suggestions.

The idea of prayer requests being collected and sent out to Midwest ARMS members was suggested. A list of prayer requests will be collected by the Secretary and "blind copy" emailed to the membership. It will be net control�s responsibility to collect the prayer requests and forward them to Roger - W�ZMU if he is unable to make the net on any given Saturday. More information to follow as this is implemented.

The use of the club call, KA2RMS for net control was discussed. The Midwest Section will continue to use their own call signs as net control stations

Neal � K�LHJ brought up the Pilots For Christ pamphlets that have been displayed on our Hamfests table. He was concerned that some might think it not appropriate since they are not ARMS related. Pilots for Christ is also a non-denominational Christ-centered organization, and is similar in purpose to ARMS. As a group we feel all material should meet this criteria to be displayed on our table.

The 7:00 AM net time and our frequency of 3903.5 were discussed. Everyone agreed that the 7:00 AM time was working better than our previous time. We all agreed to listen on 3903.5 and if busy to tune up or down to find net control. Craig - KC�YHU & Keith - WA�JGT agreed to be backup net control operators for the Sat. net. Email was preferred as the method of contact.

The meeting of the Midwest Section of AMRS mtg. adjourned at about 2:30 PM.

All gathered outside the museum at the Grotto for a group picture before departing for home.
