Greetings to all ARMS Midwest Section Members.

The Midwest Section held its annual get together this summer on 24 August, 2013 at Perkins Restaurant located in Owatanna, Minnesota.  A small group of 4 had great fellowship with a good meal.  Our Midwest Section Chaplain, Neale Thompson, KLHJ, opened the meeting with prayer.

The first order of business was to elect a new Midwest Section Director. A unanimous vote elected Tom Hauskins, AALF, to take over for Keith Sykora, WAJGT.  Keith is now the Midwest Assistant Section Director, Fran Bartz, AACE, remains the Secretary-Treasurer, Frank Brodale, AGM, the Net Manager and Neale Thompson, KLHJ the Midwest Section Chaplin.

I invite all members to visit the ARMS web site qsl.net/arms.  Lew Orcutt, NCXY, is doing an amazing job keeping the site updated.  Lew has included an ARMS Fellowship chat room for SWLs or anyone not hearing net control.  If you do not have a computer, please visit your local library and check it out.

The Midwest Section is keeping active by attending local hamfests, setting up a display, passing out information brochures and handing out ARMS tract Your Best Contact written by our first President Dr. William A. Mierop.  The response has been overwhelming.  Anyone who wishes to set up a display at a local hamfest in their area, and would like help, please contact Tom Hauskins.

The next display is scheduled at the Southeast Iowa Hamfest located in West Branch, Iowa, on October 6th, 2013, followed by the Davenport Hamfest on November 3rd, 2013.  Anyone who would like to stop by to help is welcome.

The ARMS Midwest Section Saturday Net typically has 8 to 10 check-ins per week. We would like to hear more stations check into the net.  We start at 7 AM CT on 3903.5 Mhz.  We have a different net control each week. If you are not heard by the net control, there should be a station who will hear and relay you to the net control.  If you are not able to transmit due to antenna restrictions, please try to tune us in and listen. Let us know if you hear us.

We would like to have a Midwest Section Get Together next summer.  It was suggested to meet at the Grotto of the Redemption in West Bend, Iowa.  Advance notice will be sent out so we get as many as possible to attend.

We look forward to hearing from you!
