K4LWJ

Ray Rising

I graduated from Baudette High School on the Minnesota Canadian border.  When I was 15 I had the call of KN0LWJ. I know God had a special work and service He wanted me to do, but like the boy Samuel I heard His voice but didn’t know Him yet. In 1961 while studying at Brown Institute of Electronics, I attended a Billy Graham Crusade and decided to follow Christ. In 1963 I attended Oak Hills Bible Institute in Bemidji, Minnesota where I met my wife Doris. In 1965 I quit my job and we joined Wycliffe Bible Translators as a radio technologist.  We have been members of WBT for 56 years.  About 45 years in Colombia, Bolivia and Ecuador. I have held calls KOLWJ, HK3BBR, CP6RR, HC7RW and now HK3SR.  I used to run a lot of phone patches for our fellow missionaries from 3 countries and maintained aircraft electronics as well as other tel-comp equipment. On March 31,1994 I was taken hostage by the FARC guerrillas in Colombia and held until June 17, 1996. The Lord sent me to a small people group to be a witness for Him. I am currently serving in Ethnic Radio. We help national missionaries/churches establish radio stations to broadcast in the indigenous languages.  These have the New Testament in writing, but many can’t read and are oral communicators.  What about them!!

 73 & 99 God bless, Ray K4LWJ
