It is a pleasure to see a site dedicated to people from Bhera. My mother's family (Anands) maintained a home in Bhera no matter where their work took them. Always claimed proudly of belonging to Bhera. My father's family belonged to Miani. As a very young person I visited Bhera and Miani. Every one I met at the time instantly connected me to my parents, grand parents and great grand parents. Those were the days when community never lost touch with you. Bhera and Miani in pre-partition days had a sizeable presence of Sahni's (Sawhney's) and Anand's. Are their still any of their numbers around? I am aware there are some Sawhney's who retain their family names though having accepted Islam. Any information you can give about the twin towns is welcome. Thank you for reminding me of my roots. I was born in Bhera on 7-3-37.I have very fond vivid memories of Bhera. We used to live at the end of Vijan wala Mohalla. The back door of our house used to open in the Pakhiwarian Wala Bazar. I used to study in Kirpa Ram Anglo Sanskrit High School. While writing this I can See mysrlf going through the Main Bazar past the Tehsil, Police Station, through the Ganj on the road on to our school. On the backside of our School there used to be a mechanism where the direction of the railway engin used to be changed. As children it used to thrill us tremendously. I wonder if it is still there. I would love to visit Bhera even on one days notice. I pray to God Almighty that I will get an opportunity. Thanks for this opportunity to express myself.
