Kay Attenuator 837

I bought this Attenuator on eBay and just got it 6/4/03. It
is DC-1.5GHz with 30db, 30db, 20db, 10db, 6db, 3db, 2db, 1db, 0.5db steps
for 0db - 102.5db attenuation. It has BNC in and out
and can handle up to 3 watts power.

Of course, the first thing I did was open it up. The back
has a 1/4" thick metal plate with countersunk screw holes every
1.25", there is a spacer between this plate and the PCB. It looks
like cutouts for the surface mount resistors.

The top pops off revealing a chunk of machined steel for each compartment
of attenuation. The switches are two piece RF switches with the contacts
mounted directly on the PCB. The PCB is not FR4 rather it looks like
a RF composite. The smaller resistors look like 0805 surface mount.
Thanks to Linda, my wife for the pictures and the demand I get her
a better digital camera.
