Welcome to the Home Page of AE5EI

Originally licensed in 1972 as WN0LAE, soon upgraded to WB0LAE. My job at that time took me to Illinois. This was back when you got a new call if you moved to a different call area so my call then was WD9CQK.

I held this call for several years and into my service for the USAF. In 1980 I pulled an assignment to Germany and was operating under the German Call DA2DE. Upon returning to the states, I changed my mailing address back to my original home in Iowa and received the call of N0FHL. I got an assignment to S. Korea and did have a call of HL9HF, but didn't really operate other than at the Base MARS Station, helping provide others stationed there with phone-patches back to the states. I maintained my N0FHL call through my return and then operated as CU3/N0FHL while stationed at Lajes Field in the Azores until I received my reciprocal call CU3LG. Returning to the states I kept my N0FHL call.

I retired from the USAF on Jan 1 1998 and returned to Iowa. I upgraded once again in 2000 and filed for and received K0CFI as I was living in Cedar Falls IA at the time. I held onto this call until I upgraded to Amateur Extra and applied for and got KE0J.

For some odd reason, I wanted to have a call with my initials so I got AJ0HH which I held until 2015. At that time, I decided it was time to get back into CW so I applied for and received my current call of AE5EI,. which is pretty neat for CW.

I relocated to Clarksville IA in 2011 and married my wife on Feb 29, 2012.

I am one of two amateurs listed in Clarksville, and am the only that is active. I am active on all bands except for 6 meters right now as my quad is down for maintenance and I am not going to get at it until the spring of 2019. I am on all modes, what ever suits my fancy at the time. HiHi. I am currently the Iowa Section Traffic Manager the Iowa ARES District 2 DEC, and Net Manager for the Iowa HF Digital Net that meets every Sunday afternoon at 4 pm Central Time on 3.5885 MHz and use Olivia 8-500 1500Hz offset. I am a member of OMISS (#4067), YL-System (#15703). Life member of ARRL, Indexa, QCWA (32482), SKCC (2303), SMIRK (6662) and 10-X (48706). Also a member of the groups True Blue DXers and 100 Watts and a Wire.

Other Hobbies include fishing and camping with the family.

Will answer any QSL I receive through any source...Direct, Bureau, Club Log, LoTW, and eQSL. For those waiting on a direct or bureau card, I am in the process of having those printed and will get them out as soon as I receive them.
