MEMBERSHIPS, SPECIAL EVENTS  AND OTHER MISCELLANY

THE POSSUM TROT NET
This was my first step in paper chasing. The Possum Trot Net meets EARLY in the morning on a local repeater.  About 200-250 hams, family members and, yes even pets, check into the net for a friendly good morning.  To get a lifetime PT Number, you must have 5 consecutive check-ins or 10 staggered check-ins.  Special dispensations are possible for DX check-ins.

Special Event Station W6P
This is the most important item in my wallpaper colection--- my first HF contact ever with my call from my home station!  I had passed my 5 wpm code test, upgraded to Technician Plus, and had puchased a Ten-Tec Scout.  For an antenna, all I had was a tiny Radio Shack antenna tuned to 10m.  I couldn't believe I reached all the way to California.

ARRL Volunteer Examiner
Although not really an award, I thoroughly enjoy helping out in our local Exam sessions.  I especially enjoy seeing new hams enter the hobby.
