AA5VU's C6 (6th generation) Corvette

at the Pennybacker Bridge over Lake Austin, Texas

C6 Description and Options

On 27-Aug-2013 I traded for this pristine Black 2008 C6 (6th generation) Corvette with 16.1K on the clock. it is equipped with the GM "3LT" Package and that means all options offered by GM - including a Premium Sound System with a 6-disc CD player in the dash in lieu of the navigation.

Other features and options are:

  • The new for 2008 436 Horsepower LS3 6.2L V8 SFI Engine . It is awesome and the same engine is used in 2013!

  • NPP GM option for the Dual Mode Exhaust System. Note the hand held remote I added that controls the flaps for stock or wide open. I now have the remote control attached to the dash with Velcro.
  • Listen to the Dual Mode Exhaust on this uTube Clip. I do not have the Mild-2-Wild system but mine works and sounds the same.

  • 6-Speed Auto transmission with manual shift paddles on the steering wheel.

  • Multifunction Digital Information Center (DIC) on dash and the head-up windshield display

  • Removable transparent glass Top

  • Dual zone electronic AC; heated black leather seats and electrochromaic mirrors

  • Premium sound 7-speaker system, garage/gate controls on visor, On-Star and XM/SIRUS satellite radio

  • > Z61 option for polished wheels wheels.

  • Z51 Performance Package for larger cross drilled brake rotors , stabilizer bars, springs, shocks and performance axel ratio.

  • Option for the ZR1 like Full Width Racing Spoiler with integrated brake light.
  • Want to see the LS3 engine power the C6 zero to 120 MPH? Click on this uTube clip.

  • On 1-Sep-2013 the State of Texas increased the fine for no front license plate to $200. The GM front license plate frame (glued on under logo) sucks. I installed a 2-wing nut removable, front License Plate Bracket by Top Flight Repro. It looks great compared to the bad design from GM.

  • On Halloween 2013 a lady talking on a cell phone backed into the C6. The Black-Eye and Cut Lip have been repaired.

  • A very cool picture of C6 with Old Glory's reflection on the nose.

  • Previous Owned C3, C4 and C5 Corvettes

  • 2000 to 2013 - This is me and the 2001 C5 (5th generation) 6-Speed Black Coupe that was ordered new. It lasted for 13 years.

  • 1998 to 2000 - Sold a 1996 Suzuki 1400 Intruder motorcycle to get this 1996 C4 (4th generation) black Auto Coupe.

  • 1982 to 1985 - This 1980 C3 (3rd generation) Coupe was purchased in FL for the move to back to Texas in 1982

Thee following links are a work in progress

The following are some links from my old C5 Web page

You know you are a Dedicated C5 Owner when you get one of these. Picture from CorvetteFourm.com member.

April 2012 - You know you are really old when USAA presents you with this bumper-sticker.   No way was it going on the rear facia so it rides under the hood.

Only in Texas - a Zebra eating out of my hand at the Fossil Rim Ranch - near Glen Rose, TX

Only in Texas - a Nameless Something getting a snack.

A good picture of a Black C5 looking good going down the road.

On 12/28/03 I had a too close encounter with a concrete barrier at the Mall. This is the Ouch! and this is the after repair picture. The Ouch was repaired by Capitol Chevrolet.!

This is a GM picture of a Black 2001 C5 Coupe leached from the the Corvette Web page.

This is a picture of the C5 Dash that shows everything but the Heads Up display.

This is how the outside world looks via the Transparent Roof Panel.   I really like the blue tinted roof.

Click on KD5VU for a rear view of the C5 showing my Texas Ham Radio license plate

This is the 50-watt Kenwood Model TM-733 Dual-band VHF/UHF ham rig that rides on bean bag desk in the passenger seat.   To make room for a passenger, I move the bean bag to the hatch area.

This is the Dual Band VHF/UHF ham antenna attached using a mag mount on a steel plate in the hatch area.

Click on Corsa Indy for a (not too good) picture of the Corsa Indy Exhaust System with Pro Tips. This mod was well worth the money - sounds great.

Click on HERE for a better picture of Corsa Indy Exhaust System with Pro Tips.  Since then I have added the EuroSport C5 Exhaust plate that does nothing but look good.

Click HERE for one of my favorite pictures of a C5.

Neat picture of the C5 Heads Up Display in action. One of the really cool features. This is a clearer picture of the display.

This is the C5 Dash and this is picture of the dash in action. This is an even more serious action shot. If your think that is bad, then click here for something really scary. It was not me!

This is a right front picture showing the 2001 Polished Aluminum Wheels

Another 2001 BlackC5 Coupe . Not mine but really nice picture.

A great picture of a 1980 Coupe . Not mine but is the same color/body and looks like my first Corvette. The picture was leached from a Corvette Central catalog.

    >My wife's car is a 2003 Explorer witht the Sport (17-inch mag wheels/tires and finished accents) that replaced this 1998 Explorer. The 2003 was purchaed on 01-Nov-02.  Our vehicle is identical to picture leached from Ford.

This was my 1996 C4 (4th generation) Black Corvette Coupe. It was sold on 15-Sep-00 Click. HERE or click on the picture for an better view. It is hard to see but look for the dual-band thru-the-glass antenna on windshield.

The funny looking stuff on the side of the vehicle is Texas dirt.  The picture was taken after a drive in the rain. Other pictures like KD5VU are listed below. I would like to hear from you. Drop me an email note by clicking HERE or using the mail-to thing at the bottom of this page.

This is a cool PICTURE taken by James Strathearn from his Corvette of two other Corvettes via the rear view mirror. This is another picture of Jim's corvettes parked in front of the National Corvette Museum. If you like the picture, click HERE to drop Jim a note via E-Mail.
