Integrity  -  When I visited a country the driver of our tour group was talking about the citizens of one nation, condeming the behavior and manners of the visitors. He called them morons and showed his anger. There were stories of people taking expensive items from the hotel rooms and once the bus was stopped and searched were made in the luggages.

I have said before people who came on the radio wave and causing disturbances, bad comments and threw bad words can hide themselves but they cannot hide their race and religion. The media once had shown a documentary showing kids in religious schools and commented that the root of the problem was the religion. We all know that it is untrue. But that's what people think. Is the rowdy behaviour and bad manners are taught by our religious teachers ? To keep the good name of our race and religion, it is up to everyone of us to make sure that radio sets do not go to people of bad manners.

People chat on the topic they like. They do not speak on the topic that suit you. You don't have to listen at all. They may talk nonsense but they don't talk to you. It is none of our bussiness to tell them to stop talking about it. At times you hear things that made you feel inferior, then move away from the frequency. Two hams may talk about their making an airplane and we may think they are bragging or feel very inferior because we are not as smart as they are, that does not mean you have to disturb them. Shall you degrade your culture and paint bad name of your racial or religious background ?

We don't have to built integrity but we can avoid doing bad things. By doing so other people will not despise us and will not call us morons or terrorists.

It is true that human is not perfect. We make mistakes. But we don't do bad things on purpose. The intent is not a mistake. It is deliberate. Bad behaviour is a sign of unsound mental health. Unsound mental health is not mad, but a normal person with a sick mind. He is emotionally unstable. He can be violence at any time.

We don't give weapons and communication equipments to everybody. We have to make sure only the right person can hold a weapon and a radio set. If we have done so then we have to feel sorry for amateur radio. Such sick behaviors never happen on amateur radio before. Today you hear of road hooligans ran rampage and attacked police cars, throwing stones at police stations, students punching their teachers, sons killed their old folks, grabbing and robbing have been very common. In my town a young teacher punched and kicked his head master, a worker in Jakarta has the ability to punch his card at the work place in Alor Star.

Like murderers and other criminals, these people will always think they are right. Soon they will see their own kids will rebell against them because their kids will say their dads are wrong.

There must be somebody responsible. Somebody has to take the blame and be accountable for what is happening. It is not a matter of what will be will be...que serra..serra..

RESPONSIBILITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY - The general concept of responsibilty and accountability is not merely applied to a specific management procedures, but it applies to all type of situations. In an organization, society or a group of people the head has to be responsible for the organization, namely the President, Governors, General, managers, school principals and other authorities. He is not only accountable for himself but also the doings of his subordinates. A responsible leader will account for the errors of his subordinates, not passing the bucks to the others and blame eveybody elses. That is the reason why some managers resigned after the failures done by someone else in the organization. The head must plan and creat ways and means so that the organization will be very efficient in all aspects, with foolproof error handling capabilities to deliver a perfect finished products. Many leaders and managers passed their responsibilities to the other people. BUT he has to be accountable for any mistake done by them. If you are a worker , your boss asks you to do silly things which  resulting in mistakes, your boss starts to blame you, do you want to have

this kind of a boss ? Similarly if you want to send your kid to school, you don't want to send him to irresponsible principal. A manager must make sure that rules and regulations set in his organization do not allow inefficieny to creep in. If there is any loophole remedial actions must be immediately addressed. Look at what happens when million dollar projects failed, building dropped down, bridges collapsed; do you see any action done ? Everybody starts blaming everybody elses. More money were asked to redo the project. Finally you will hear "..we don't have enough man power..". To many people work is between 8.00 to 5.00. After that it is the time to rest. Yet to many others after 5.00, their minds still work, trying to solve problems existed in the offices, how to enhance output and productions, how to achieve excellence etc. etc. The Islamic community should know that "...everyone is a leader and accountable to his subordinates....the father in the family, the chief clerk in the office...the governor to his county...the President to his citizens..." A very smart person will creat mechanism for automation, rejecting , filtering and self adjusting. Though human is not easy to manipulate, it can be done. What we need is thinking.

KNOW OUR BOUNDRY - The government of Malaysia has setup a system to cope up with emergencies. Alot of money has been poured to buy communication equipments.  Many organizations are aware of ham radio and what hams could do. Some had called MARES to talk about rescue and emergency. MAS joins hands with MARES.

BUT not all organizations MUST call for ham radio operators for help. They might ask us to standby. As long as they can manage to tackle the problems themselves they may not ask for our help. During one air crash in Alor Star, a ham approached the TUDM. The later did not require any outside assistance. Another one was during the landslide in Perak, 9M2AU was called up to standby and monitor on the frequency. The organization concerned also manage to resolve the matter themselves.

If any organization does not need our help then there is nothing that we can do. We can't jump over into it's boundry. Neither should we belittle them . We are not appointed or elected by the government to carry on those jobs. At times a mere handphone is enough to send a message. So let they do it that way. We can't condemn them for using the handphone.

We are not a sharman nor a bomoh. We can't cure everything. We are not expert. We have yet many things to learn. We can't feel we are the greatest just because we have a rig and a repeater.

WE KNOW WE CAN HELP. We help when others need our help. If others refuse we cannot go round the world telling those people are bad for not wanting to accept our offer. WE should know our boundry.
