Hello, Thanks for visiting this web site, I know it's fairly basic at the moment but as my experience in Amateur Radio grows, so will this site.
I must say that my first impressions as far as local operations go are not that good.
We have the elitist class A operators (who I think should be setting better examples to us supposedly lower licence classes). They are forever making reference as to what a particular class of Licence holder is capable of doing or not doing, what they may or may not be able to understand, calling M5s half-licences and suggesting with reference to Novice Licences that they came free in crisp packets or available from supermarkets and filling stations.
Secondly, there are the frequency police, the self-appointed Guardian Angels of Amateur Radio. They're always there in listening mode ready to pounce on unwary operators who have made the most trivial of errors or heaven forbid slipped up and used a bit of CB lingo.
(M0's and anyone with a G callsign seem to be exempt from the above criticisms or comments).
These operators need to realise that the hobby is dying on its feet, it needs new blood, they are the future, and this new blood needs as much help and encouragement as possible. Many of us fairly new licensees come from a CB background, and we all realise that Amateur Radio is a different world. So for those of us who may need it , give us time or help us more with the transition, we all want to become good operators.
Fortunately, there are many more decent operators in the higher ranks than those who criticise or comment , and I thank you
