My HF Radio
My HF choice of radio at this time is the ICOM IC-765 a giant of radio's and a radio you will not want to move about due to the weight and physical size, but this is a tiny price to pay, to hear the sweet receive tone and clarity of the receive is 100% pure quality.
Just centralize the banks of controls and tune to a ham signal, if its contest day the a slight tweak of IF shift or a little bit of notch and those annoying side signals have gone, As for TX with the aid of the 765's monitor you can perfect your transmit audio with the Compression, Microphone gain and Microphone tone to suit the conditions of the day.
My HF antenna is a Polyweave half size G5RV, solidly constructed, the centre connecter is supported by a 6mtr fibre glass telescopic fishing pole, and the 300ohm feeder is taped to the pole to give support and hold at 90°,
I achieve super contacts on this antenna gaining India, Japan and brazil on the 20mtr band in the pm of the day, around 14.280.00 mhz. the g5rv is configured with one leg from the centre sloping down at 22° from the centre, and the other leg parallel to the ground at 5m high agl.
