Portable setup used by ZS6DX.

A few photos of my portable/QRP station setup, capable of SSB/CW or one of the many new digital modes.

Here is my portable mast at 6m with dipoles for 40m, 20m and 15m, I still want to add 10m to the spiders web !. The mast is light and easy to pitch, even in the dark.

The rig here is the Icom IC-706MKII that I have had for many years, I also used this rig on my Yacht when we were sailing. Here it is running from a 7Ah gel-cell battery, giving about 2.5 hours of QRP operation on SSB or CW. The laptop computer in the picture is used for PSK31, log keeping and in the future WSJT/JT44 with the addition of small 2m and 6m yagis. It runs on 2 internal batteries but it can also run on an external 12V source. Running the new digital modes should be fun combined with the SOTA operations.

In the background next to the pool you can see the carry bag for the mast. It comes complete with everything needed like guy ropes, pegs and hammer.

I have now also acquired a 8m telescopic mast, it is a bit heavy to carry but with motor vehicle access it would be ideal to support some more substantial antennas. It is also strong enough to support a small HF yagi or 6m/2m VHF combination.

In the future I will be using a FT-817 or maybe a K1 for lower current consumption on the mountain tops !

Hope to work you /p soon !
