Over new year 2000 I fled to Namibia to avoid any Y2K problems. My means of transport was the family pride: an 1979 Audi 100. The risk of any Y2K problems with the Audi was considered zero and none was encountered.
Naturally I took the TS430 along to try and lure some DX with a V51/ZS1PK call. A combination of very hot weather, good Namibian beer, poor antennas and poor power supplies foiled all plans of great DX operation.
Below are some images from my tour there.
