QSL card of the late King Hussein JY1 of Jordan

King Hussein JY1 was a very keen amateur radio operator and enjoyed working DX stations. He had a big influence on amateur radio in his country and that region of the world and sponsored many international events. Several of his immediate family members are also licensed operators. However, pressure of the King's royal duties did not afford him much time on the air and this QSL card holds a special place in my shack.

The card is about A5 size and is printed on very high quality card paper with gold embossed crown, coat of arms and callsign. The King personally signed every QSL card. On the right is a separate photograph I received from the King.

I made contact with JY1 on 14MHz on 24 December 1987.
