"CHATHAM   ISLAND   NEWS "

The Kermadec DX Association is undertaking it's third DXpedition, this time to ZL7 Chatham Islands in October this year.

Our planned period of operation is from 17 October to 28 October local times. We do stress these are our PLANNED operating times and actual times will depend on conditions at the time.

There have been a number of questions asked about our operating Call-sign and because of previous "Pirates" using our pre announced call-signs for ZL8RI and ZL9CI we are not releasing our ZL7 CALL SIGN at this time. (See Bulletin #2) I can assure you all that a "LEGITIMATE" call sign has been issued by the New Zealand Authorities and the Kermadec DX Association hopes that this call-sign will not be made available for future use for a number of years.

It is with great pleasure that we wish to announce our international team as follows:

Hiro Miyake JF1OCQ ZL1WY W1VX
Reinhard Maute DF4TD
Steve Taylor G4EDG
Paul Rubinfield WF5T
Bill Beyer N2WB
Dave Anderson KW4DA
Al Hernandez K3VN ZL3AH
Murray Woodfield ZL1CN
Wilber Knol ZL2BSJ
Stan White ZL2ST
Bob McQuarrie ZL3TY
Ken Holdom ZL4HU also ZL2HU (Team Leader)

With this team, many of whom are well known and experienced DXpeditioners, we can assure the DX world that our intentions are to provide as many contacts as possible on all bands, 160 through 10 meters and some 6 meters where possible. We will also have 2 meter capability but this will be considerably limited for obvious reasons.

The Kermadec Dx Association is looking forward to yet another successful DXpedition and we have already received some generous equipment support from many of those who supported our previous two highly successful DXpeditions.

As we are only to well aware any DXpedition takes some considerable organizing and expense and we would would greatly appreciate as much financial support as possible. Donations may be sent to our new address which is:

Kermadec DX Association ZL7
P O Box 7
Clyde
Central Otago
New Zealand

All donations will be acknowledged and we would prefer an e-mail address with your support.

PLEASE NOTE that the above address is the ONLY VALID address for DIRECT QSL'ing. We will also be QSL'ing via the Bureau.

As we intend to have quality QSL cards printed AFTER the DXpedition there will be some delay in posting these out. We would appreciate your patience in this regard. Announcements will be made when postal mail outs are beginning.

At this time we are intending to have a Web site and ON-Line logs. Further information regarding these two aspects will be provided at a later date.

Please Note. For this DXpedition We Will NOT be E-Qsling.

Trusting we have provide you all with sufficient information, we now look forward to meeting you on the air from ZL7 in October.

Kind Regards and good DXing
