Is this the best receiver in the world? Anyone buying the IC-R8600 must be serious about using one of the best receivers available because there are many cheaper options.
The IC-R8600 has many features that make a big difference. It has superb performance figures, covers a super-wide range of frequencies, has an excellent band scope, and can receive several digital voice modes as well as the usual SSB, AM, and FM modes. There are 2000 memory slots and a very fast scanning mode. The IC-R8600 is very much a desktop receiver, not a portable radio.
