About me:
I have been licensed since April, 1963. I have always been a keen home-brewer of ham radio and other electronic gear. I have (to date) never owned any commercial transmitting equipment!
I started building equipment about 1958 when transistors were starting to become generally available. My frst transmitter (1963) was all-valve: 12 watts DC input to an EL84/6BQ5 valve running DSB on 80 metres. This became SSB when I saved enough money to buy a B&W 2Q4 phase shift network!
I have operated mainly on HF, with some activity on 2 m in the days before frequency synthesisers
Other demands on my time and resources have meant that construction efforts on major projects, and operating in particular have been restricted in recent years, but that hasn’t stopped me reading, listening and thinking up ideas!
The following information may be of interest to fellow home-brewers.
Over the years I have constructed many experimental projects, some of which has been put aside for one reason or another as I move on to something else…
