National VOIP Net

The following, details the start of a National VOIP net to start this Sunday March 28, at 7:00 PM. 
You are invited to participate in this inaugural and subsequent nets. You may need to setup the EchoLink system and if so, a link to the download area on the EchoLink site is provided at the end of this report.

7:00 PM Sunday March 28, 2004. New Zealand National VOIP Net - A New Zealand National VOIP Net is to be run on the *ZL1VK* conference server. This is open to all Branches, interest groups and amateurs throughout New Zealand. The aim of the net is to encourage communications between amateurs throughout New Zealand and assist and promote VOIP technology to expand the enjoyment of our amateur radio hobby via this mode. Branch representatives and individual amateurs are invited to participate or just listen-in.

News about IRLP nodes - (All IRLP node controllers or potential controllers are invited to contribute here) IRLP system operators can advise any issues that are relating to their node, example, whether the node is going to be off the air, repeater issues, planned expansion or modifications, statistics on use etc. Any hams that are planning to set up new IRLP nodes can advise what is being planned also.An example of what the you may like to say is .

This is <Fred> <ZL????> the system operator for the <ZL1XYZ> IRLP node in <Hamilton>. <ZL1XYZ> operates on the <ZL1RIP> repeater on <144.200> MHz. This node is run by the <Hamilton Branch ##> and covers the <Hamilton, Franklin> area.

We have a planned shut from ... to ... etc.

We are planning to change the transmitter to ... and are planning to cross band to ... in the future. We have an average of 20 stations a day connecting to this node with about 40 % of them being answered etc.. Please feel free to join us on our club net on <ZL1XYZ> IRLP node at ...

Other VOIP nets, requests - Announcements of other VOIP nets of interest, plus special event stations. Example NZART, Ham Expos, JOTA, AREC, etc..

General Check In - Listeners are invited to check in, please provide call, name and location. Check in will be managed. Overseas Stations, then Radio nodes taken in turn, then computer users.
