This was scheduled for
two separate Sundays in October - Sunday 12 October and Sunday 19 October.
The training covered:
- SAR Modular Training (AREC Modules
1 and 2) - Introductory and Practical
- SAR Operations in Auckland - local
information & case studies
- AREC National Communications Plan
- CD Modular Training (AREC Module
4) - Introductory and Practical
- CD Organisation & Operations
in Auckland - introduction
- Auckland City Civil Defence -
technical training module (Intro to AK EOC, frequencies, procedures, etc)
- Safety & Responsibilities
of AREC personnel
- Preparation & Interoperability
- being ready to respond and assist each other
- Maps - types of maps available,
reading Topo maps, computer mapping software, GPS integration
There is some overlap with the training
weekend held at Hunua in May 2002, but also a good deal of new material.
Therefore all AREC operators are encouraged to attend to refresh and extend
their skills.
