First licenced in 1961 with the call of ZL2QI and later in 1969 issued with ZL1SZ

The town of Whakatane has a population of 18000 and in located 250 km south east of Auckland in the Bay of Plenty on the eastern coastline of the North Island.

CURRENT AMATEUR STATION

My shack equipment consists of an IC-738 transceiver driving a Clipperton L linear amplifier into a

Hi-Gain TH5 DX yagi antenna at 15 meters above 36 ground radials for 10, 15 & 20 m and 1/4 WL wire slopers for 80, 40 & 12 meter operations.

PERSONAL INFORMATION

A registered electrician and electrical inspector, I along with my XYL own and operate an electrical contracting business with a lighting and electrical retail store in Whakatane serving the Bay of Plenty.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

I have been a volunteer Fire Fighter for 31 years and serve as an officer

in the New Zealand Fire Service with the Whakatane Fire Brigade.

Member of the of Lions Club International and member of the Lions Club of Whakatane for 22 years.

Holder of a Private Pilots licence since 1971 flying light aircraft

and have a great interest in aviation .
