Scenes from my trip to
New Zealand in November 2001

Day 1. The "boys" went fishing in the Hauraki Gulf.

Peter and Alan were happy! We caught limit bags each.

... including this nice snapper held by Nick, ZL1IU.

Day 2. More fishing! This time with the kids.

Anna with two Parore at Great Barrier Island.

Heather and I with her nice Snapper.

... of course Dad caught the biggest fish of the day :-)

Day 3. Helicopter trip to White Island, an active volcano.

This photo from Helipro's site.

We walked along paths of volcanic gravel past the lava flows.

There were fumeroles of sulphurous gas!

... and a lake of sulphuric acid!

We had a great flight back across
the ocean and saw Whales and Dolphins.

Next stop was The Agrodome for a sheep show.

... and a tour of their mixed farm.

Day 4. Trout fishing on Lake Rotorua

We went out with StillWater Trout Fishing Charters.
Heather caught a plump Rainbow trout
... we ate it for dinner that night!

Anna's trout. Another beautiful 3lb rainbow.
Alister from StillWater WILL hook you up with some nice trout!!
See the result of another trip with Alister here!

In the afternoon we went by 4WD to the top of Mt Tarawera.

There were huge views and we did
"The Scree Run" down into one of the craters.

Finally, Anna and I did The Luge Ride on Mt Ngongotaha.

It was a great few days ... then 36 hours of
flying back to work in Georgia, Eastern Europe.

:-(
