Note 1 : frequencies subject to sudden change due to TX maintenance, however Te Aroha is always on 45.239600 MHz and is a useful calibration frequency.
Note 2 : frequencies only quoted to 10Hz resolution to prevent discussions about "the last Hz". Propagation effects may shift the frequency a few Hz anyway.
Note 3 : Hikurangi frequency 45.260.31 +- drifts substantially with temperature changes making it difficult to differentiate from Whakapunake 45.260.36 +-
Note 4 : The big 46MHz VK TV transmitters have closed down. The 45MHz ZL TV transmitters will close in 2013 according to the information here.
Actual switch off times: the South Island closed at 14:03 utc on 27 April 2013; Lower North Island & East Cape will close at 14:00 utc on 28 September, and Upper North Island will close at 13:00 utc on 30 November 2013.
What can I do if I hear them? ...
Try calling CQ on 50.110 SSB or 50.1106 CW as many VK and ZL stations are monitoring that International Calling Frequency. Also register and log on to the ON4KST 50 MHz Region 2 or Region 3 Chat or the VK Logger 6M page to raise the alert!
