Scenes from 4X/ZL1RS, Jerusalem
The usual set-up. IC706MKIIg, Acom1000 PA and JT65 on
the laptop. A small GPS on the window ledge kept the
computer time accurate via NMEATime software.
I concentrated on 6M EME with my old 6 element yagi, but
this time I added a basic elevation system to get away from
the severe local noise that usually plagues the cities.
A bolt through the boom ...
... and a clay roofing tile to adjust the elevation.
I told you the elevation system was simple! However,
it did the trick and I worked 4 stations on 6M EME
thanks to the reduced QRN in the receiver.
Look at this mess! 19 aluminium rods taped to a water pipe and curtain
rod boom ... but with just 70W output I worked HB9Q in 5 minutes.
I kept the feedline short by assembling the station on the roof.
Sun glare on the laptop screen was the biggest challenge!
Hey look, it's that crazy clay roof tile elevation system again!!
Of course, it has nothing to do with this miserable little pile of
equipment. It is all due to to Dan's fine 70cm EME station at
HB9Q!
