About Rodger
I was born in Cape Town and lived in a suburb called Ottery for many years.
I was very excited when going to Yamboree on the air with a good friend Berny Crockford (ZS1BW) at a very young age, he spent many hours showing me moon bounces, HF, & packet radio.
When I started work for Telkom SA in 1986, I got my restricted license as a ZR1AEW and later became a ZS1RAH. I joined the Cape Town Branch and worked mainly with packet radio.
In October of 1998, I moved to Auckland, New Zealand and joined the Auckland 02 club with callsign ZL1RAH. I now live happily in Papakura, Auckland with my family. My wife has also become a ham with callsign ZL1ING, and we both belong to the Papakura Branch (Branch 65)
