Hi All,
I hope that you have all had really enjoyable Christmas and New Year Celebrations
with family and friends. It was great to see so many of you at the International
YL 2000 last year in Hamilton. There were many friendships made there,
personally I have had many pleasant contacts on HF with a number of
the YLs that were at YL 2000. To all of you who have sent greetings and photos
since you returned home from YL 2000 I would like once again to say "Thank
You"on behalf of all the ZL YLs.
Here in the small town where I live we have been having some very warm weather, I see by the news etc.that some of you especially in UK and parts of Europe have been experiencing rather wet cold conditions. I do hope that things do improve for you very soon.
June VK4SJ has kindly offered to be net control for the YL 14.222 DX Net which is held every Monday on 14.222 from 0530 UTC. Propagation to Europe has not been so good over the last few weeks, we are still managing to hear YLs from Japan, New Zealand and Australia quite well and have been lucky to also hear Chris P29BA from New Guinea.
Dave ZL1AMN who had been Net control for the YL 14.222 DX Net for many years has now moved house, and has not as yet put up his beam antennas. Dave has just had a hip replacement operation and I have been told that he is doing very well and is now free from pain and able to move around more freely. Dave and Aola we wish you many "Happy Years" in your new home.
The Thelma Souper Memorial Contest will be held this year on Saturday March 31st and Sunday 1st April conditions and rules for this contest can be found on the Awards and Contest Page . This contest is a very enjoyable experience it would be great to hear more YLs and OMs on this year so please keep the date free.
The ALARA contest which was held in November last year was a lot of fun, congratulations to Gwen VK3DYL who was the overall winner. The ALARA girls have now changed the contest date to the last weekend in August so put this in your diaries to keep this weekend free also.

For those of you who do not know where Paengaroa is it is situated
on the Te Puke - Rotorua Highway. This will be a great opportunity for YLs

I have heard that some of our WARO members have not been very well during
