Here you will find
information about the clubs activities, repeaters and contact details.
The VHF group has members who are active in many facets of Amateur
Radio. The group was formed in 1956 and recently celebrated its 50th
anniversary. There have been many mile stone achievements along the
way.
From the long term lease held on the clubrooms in the park at Hazel Ave
to the lofty heights of the Klondyke repeater site. Members are
encouraged to promote membership of the group and to support the upkeep
and enhancement of club resources. Our thanks must go to those who
founded the group and those with the vision and commitment to make the
Auckland VHF Group what it is today. Enjoy your visit to this web site.

General Meeting
Monday, July 13th 2009. The 23cm Band The “what and how to”!
The
23cm band is under utilised, and yet it has a lot of space to play in.
It does have activity, and very few operators appear to realise what
activity is on, how easy it is to get on this band and how effective it
can be. To over come some of the myths, this meeting is dedicated to
the 23cm band, with the assistance of Simon ZL1SWW, and possibly
Stephen ZL1TPH and others.
Its one of those practical
evenings where what appear to be secrets are revealed to be simple and
easily achievable goals with a lot of interesting fun in between.
The Auckland VHF Group has also invited the NZ Electronics Institute to
join us at this meeting.

Data Modes CD.
Doug ZL1AVY advises that a
new version of the Branch 66 Data
Modes CD will bereleased
in time for the
December meeting of Branch 66. This will make an excellent present to
give to your ham mates - keep it in mind! It does contain a lot of new
programmes and many updates. If you are unable to attend a meeting or
live outside Auckland you may contact either Doug ZL1AVY or anyone of
our committee members to arrange a copy to be sent out. Please see our Contacts page.
690 Fire
As many have already heard the 690
repeater was destroyed by fire on the 19th of August 2007. At the
general meeting held on the 10th of September 2007 there was a
discussion
about the future of the repeater and the committee will be
investigating the possible relocation of 690. It is not certain at this
point if we are able to get the repeater back on the same site.
Update
June 7th 2009. Replacement equipment has been purchased from Tait and
site negotiations have been completed to have the repeater housed at
Puketutu. Antenna and duplex hardware are yet to be purchased.
