Here you will find
information about the clubs activities, repeaters and contact details.
The VHF group has members who are active in many facets of Amateur
Radio. The group was formed in 1956 and recently celebrated its 50th
anniversary. There have been many mile stone achievements along the
way.
From the long term lease held on the clubrooms in the park at Hazel Ave
to the lofty heights of the Klondyke repeater site. Members are
encouraged to promote membership of the group and to support the upkeep
and enhancement of club resources. Our thanks must go to those who
founded the group and those with the vision and commitment to make the
Auckland VHF Group what it is today. Enjoy your visit to this web site.

heading back to earth after replacing the 2 meter splitter for the
north bank.
Dwarfed
by the 2 meter array. Many thanks go to Vaugan.
Without
the dedicated team that do the high work, amateur radio would not be
what it is today.

DStar.
A
quick update on the DStar front. Thanks to donations of equipment by
Laurie ZL1ICU and Rick ZL1WOT plans are well underway to install DStar
repeaters at Klondyke and Musick Point.
At
the August 2009 committee meeting of the Auckland VHF Group, a working
group to tackle the technical issues and installation requirements for
Klondyke was set up and has commenced work. If you have something to
offer this working group please do not hesitate to contact any VHF
Group committee member.
Meanwhile, ZL1ICU is running the 70cm D-Star repeater on test from his
home QTH. If you have D-Star capable equipment in Auckland,
particularly around the Greenlane area, try 438.175 MHz.
690
Operational
On
Saturday the 22nd August 2009, a band of workers from the Auckland VHF
Group and the Franklyn Branch 10 headed up to the Puketutu site on the
Bombay Hills just South of Auckland, to reinstate the 690 repeater
destroyed by fire 2 years ago. The working party was very successful,
resulting in a new aerial,
repeater and duplexer being installed and operational by 11.00am that
morning. Thanks are due to all those volunteers
that helped make the day the success it was.
Data Modes CD.
Doug ZL1AVY advises that a
new version of the Branch 66 Data
Modes CD will bereleased
in time for the
December meeting of Branch 66. This will make an excellent present to
give to your ham mates - keep it in mind! It does contain a lot of new
programmes and many updates. If you are unable to attend a meeting or
live outside Auckland you may contact either Doug ZL1AVY or anyone of
our committee members to arrange a copy to be sent out. Please see our Contacts page.
