Field day this year saw a smaller turnout not only with Branch Members, but Field Stations.
There was a large deep low pressure system set to hit the upper north island with rainfall
levels between 40-140mm. The heaviest part hit the Auckland area around 4:00AM Saturday.
This did not stop ZL1AA.
ZL1AA had the usual 2 stations on the air, 75M SSB and 40M CW/SSB. We were short a CW operator or two.
Ray, ZL1AJR, Mark, ZL1BNO, Franc, ZL1SLO kept 75 Meters going, while Wes, ZL3TE ran 40M CW and SSB with some SSB relief during
a few Saturday evening periods from Simon, ZL1SWW.
The 75 Meter Station consisted of a FT-1000MP, to a doublet dipole, while over on 40, saw an FT-1000MP, 1/2 wave Dipole and a
Force 12 SIGMA-V 40M vertical dipole.
Steve, ZL1FS and Christine kept the troops fed and watered very well.
The numbers are still being tabulated, but a rough count 425 QSOs on 75M and 275 QSOs on 40.
There has always historically been a larger turnout on 75/80M than on 40M.
