Z35M set European Year QSO
Record
43. 300 QSO’s all in one year
In year 2001 Vlado, Z35M decided to run his personal QSO Marathon
with aim to see how many QSO's can be made in one year, using only his station
and personal callsign (Z35M). The final result after 12 months of
operation was 43.300 QSO’s !!!
This result is European Year QSO Record (single operator-one year-one call sign)
and third best in the World ever. The better known results are those of
VP6BR, operated by OH2BR in 2000, with 56.059 QSO’s, and KV4AA (SK) who
made 48.100 QSO's in 1978.
Vlado's daily rate was 118,6 QSO’s. From the total of 43.300 QSO’s, 12.542
or 28,9%, were with DX stations. The best results were achieved on the second
half of the Marathon, when, for 6 months (July-December 2001) total of
25.080 QSO’s were made, or 136,3 QSO’s per day. Last 3 months
(October-December 2001), total of 17. 200 QSO’s were made or 186,9
QSO’s per day, and the last 10 days of the Marathon ended with total
of 2.740 QSO’s, or 274 QSO’s per day. The best month was October with 5.900
QSO's.
All QSO's were made on HF bands operating CW and SSB. From 365 days, Vlado was
active in 350 and spent around 1.000 hours on the air.
This operation was not a DX-pedition. In the same time is the best result ever
achieved from the main land. Macedonia is not listed among 100 most wanted
DXCC entities. At that time, Vlado was 35 years old, had a full time job,
family obligations, and manage to fulfill other social and private activities.
This QSO Record was set using modest equipment:
IC-745 and FT-101E; Power 100-400 W; 2el.Quad (14/ 21/ 28 Mc) at 10m; 3 el.Yagi
(14/ 21/28 Mc) at 14m, GAP multiband vertical at 2m used for 7/ 3.5 Mc, Dipole
for 3,5 at 10m.
