My sincere thanks to those who took part and to those who sent their logs, but I am very disappointed that so few logs were sent. Was there as difficulty with the length of time allowed for sending?  Or is this part of a trend that I have noticed over the last year of plenty of activity, but no interest taken in sending a log for the contest worked? In the years that the contest has been running, it has been the rule that separate logs be sent for CW and SSB.  Most of you separated your scores along those lines, but there were four logs which were scored on a Mixed basis.  I think that there really is no reason why there should not be a Mixed mode, so I have built that into the rules for next year (see separate pages). There was an almost total disregard in practice of the suggestion that Modes be operated in quarter-hour blocks. Whilst "taking the law into your own hands" is not a good attitude in my opinion, I can nevertheless see that the rule was not a good one.  However, without experimentation one cannot find the best solution.  Hopefully I have overcome that for next year. The biggest problem seemed to be QRM from various other staions operating between themselves.  This is an arkward one, as it raises questions of Primary versus Secondary allocations in VK, and the loss of a section of the band to beacons in ZL. Again, I hope that next year's rules will overcome this difficulty. COMMENTS FROM LOGS ZL2AS operator David: "..best 160 m activity I've ever participated in." W9LYN: "I heard none of you from 'down under'. Listened continuously from 0700 - 1030 UTC". SUMMARY Congratulations to ZL2AS and VK3IO as Mode winners and to all who scored certificates.  These will be sent as soon as I get them. A copy of the Rules for 2000 is enclosed.  PLEASE READ THESE NOW and let me have any comments as soon as possible. Once again thanks for your participation and interest. 73 de Ian Godsil VK3DID
