O transcriere a Codul de conduita al radioamatorului - The Ham Spirit - asa cum a fost el enuntat pentru prima data de Paul M. Segal, W9EEA in 1928. The Amateur's Code  - or The Ham Spirit -how it was originally written by Paul M. Segal, W9EEA in 1928.
Radioamatorul este...
...RESPECTUOS. El va opera intotdeauna in asa fel incat sa nu lezeze in mod constient placerea celorlalti de a lucra in banda.
...LOIAL. El va oferi incredere, incurajare si sprijin altor radioamatori, cluburilor locale si tuturor celor prin care este reprezentat radioamatorismul in tara sa si in intreaga lume.
...PROGRESIST. Mentinandu-si cunostintele in pas cu stiinta, el trebuie sa construiasca, sa intretina si sa opereze statia in mod ireprosabil.
...PRIETENOS. Are rabdare si opereaza lent cand i se cere. Da prieteneste sfaturi si ajutor incepatorilor. Arata sprijin, cooperare si respect fata de interesele altora.

Acestea sunt punctele forte ale faimosului "ham spirit". In plus, radioamatorul trebuie sa fie si:

...ECHILIBRAT. Radioul este o pasiune, care nu trebuie sa interfereze niciodata cu datoriile fata de familie, serviciu, scoala sau comunitate.
...PATRIOT. El este permanent pregatit sa puna statia si cunostintele sale in slujba tarii si comunitatii din care face parte.

 The Radio Amateur is:
CONSIDERATE.. Never knowingly operates in such a way as to lessen the pleasure of others
LOYAL...Offers loyalty, encouragement and support to other amatuers, local clubs, through which Amateur radio in the United States is represented nationally and internationally.
PROGRESSIVE... With the knowledge abreast of science, a well built and efficient station and operation above reproach.
FRIENDLY... Slow and patient operating when requested; friendly advice and counsel to the beginner; kindly assistance, cooperation and consideration for the interests of others.

These are the hallmarks of the Amateur spirt. In addition, the Radio Amateur has also be:

BALANCED... Radio is a vocation, never interfering with the duties owed to family, job, school, or community.
PATRIOTIC... Station and skill always ready for service to country and community.
