A few words about my HAM activity...
I started like most amateurs with SWL activity many years ago, with YO5-9674/AB callsign. Listening the 80m SW band and receiveing some QSL card from other HAMs was an interesting experience for me. I manage to build different receivers at home and with a log wire antenna start to fill the station LOG.
The "real" HAM licence was obtained 1995 and I started my first QSO using a home made 1 CH 145 MHz FM RIG . After some years and with the help of Tibi-YO5QAQ, I succeed in building of a 2m FM equipement, to work via repeaters and in digital modes (packet radio). I have many beautiful remembers from Cluj, where I have many HAM friends, like: Bela - YO5TP, Sergiu - YO5CRI, Attila - YO5OLD, and from my home town Aiud, where i receive a lot of helps at the begin of my HAM activity from Tibi-YO5QAQ, Pompei - YO5AXI. We made a lot of wonderfull jobs also building home made equipements: 2m PLL TCVR, 600/1200/9600 Baud Packet Modems, 70 cm Packet TCVR, 2m FM repeaters, etc.
Actually I'm living in Italy, about 100 km W from Milano, and I'm active in SW with IW / YO5OFK call. You can reach me around 14.300 MHz in SSB, 14.230 MHz in SSTV, or sometimes in RTTY. I'm using YAESU FT-857, with MFJ-941E antenna tuner and DX11 Multiband vertical antenna. My computer is a Pentium4-3GHz, with SoundCard interface for RTTY and SSTV modes and home made CAT control interface. Started from 1st april, I optained the italian licence with IZ1KJV call.
For portable and mobile work in VHF/UHF I'm using KENWOOD TH-F7E handy in FM mode and packet radio.
My Echolink VHF link station is buid wth Intek KT-210EE handy, IBM Thinkpad computer, and home made PTT control interface. IZ1KJV-L VHF link #302952.
