HIGH SPEED TELEGRAPHY 
CHAMPIONSHIP in ROMANIA

The IV-th edition of the High Speed Telegraphy Championship will be held this year in Romania on the Black Sea coast in the summer resort MAMAIA.

All the action (contest, accomodation, meals) will take place in the Hotel PELICAN from MAMAIA (indicated with an arrow on the map of the resort)

The schedule of the competition is as follows:

6-th June 2001

  • arrival of the participants;
  • 20.00 hrs: The official opening of the competition and the meeting of the international Jury;

7-th June 2001

  • 08.00 - 09.00 breakfast
  • 09.30 - 13.30 receiving tests
  • 13.30 - 15.00 lunch time
  • 15.30 the individual transmitting tests and RUFZ/PED

8-th June 2001

  • 08.00 - 09.00 breakfast
  • 09.30 - 13.30 continuation of all tests
  • 13.30 - 15.00 lunch time
  • 15.30 - 19.00 finalization of all tests

9-th June 2001

  • 08.00 - 09.00 breakfast
  • 09.00 - 14.00 Litoral sightseeing tour
  • 20.00 Official dinner and awarding ceremony at the restaurant "Nunta Zamfirei "

10-th June 2001

  • Departure of the participants

Situated just north of Constanta Town, Romania's main city to the Black Sea, Mamaia lies between the sea and Lake Siutghiol. This Romanian Sea Coast "Pearl" owes its popularity to its very large beaches with an unbelievable fine sand.

The largest tourist resort in Romania has been modernized in the last years to provide excellent holidays for the tourists. The beach is smooth and sunny; the layer of sand is spread over 8 km and is 3 m deep, the surface of the beach can heat up to 45 grade C.
The average temperature for the month July-August is of 25 grade C and the yearly average is of 11 grade C; the breeze blows gently from the sea to land in the warm season, rich in marine aerosols.
Mamaia is specially designed for families with children as it has plenty of playing grounds equipped with all kinds of playing facilities. After sunbathing and in the evening, the visitors may spend unforgettable moments in discotheques, night clubs, restaurants, some providing up to date music and dancing and other traditional cuisine and Romanian dishes.
The 28 recreation areas provide for visitors, young and old, a large range of activities and sports (water-skiing, wind surfing, hydro cycling, sailing), fishing, tennis, bowling, mini golf, riding, swimming, electronic games. Mamaia has numerous hotels, villas, camping sites, ranging from one to four stars. Over 20,500 visitors can be accommodated simultaneously having a large range of services at their disposal.
