Bahasa Indonesia

My name is Agus Rudhy and live in a southern part of the Metropolitan Jakarta,
the capital of the Republic of Indonesia.
Born in 1958 and graduated from Faculty of Economics University of Indonesia
in 1986.

To date I am still enjoying my long time hobbies: amateur radio and computers.
As an amateur radio, my callsign is YBØEMJ.
Friends in my office called me "em-je" because they all knew my fanatic hobby.

I was first licensed in 1982 and upgraded to General (YC) class in the same year.
After had followed Advanced (YB) class exams for seven times,
finally, in 1987, passed and hold the highest class.

From 1983 till 1990, I took much of my time in dxing and contesting
both Phone and CW modes, lately also RTTY.
Have participated in almost of world-wide DX Contests,
and had confirmed contacted with more than 200 DXCC countries in each mode.
Through the years, my station also was used by scouts joined in the National
and International Jamboree On The Air (JOTA).

In that years, the station consisted of an old Yaesu FT-101E, a 5-el. 15m beam,
a 3-el. 10m beam and a G5RV wire antenna with a homemade antenna tuner.
All antennas used were "homemade" and constructed by myself.

I have joined in several expeditions with special callsign such as:
YE0X (Jakarta, 1986), YE2X (Batu Raden, 1988), YE4X (Bangka island, 1988),
YE9Z (Bali island, 1987), YE9X (Sorong-Papua island,1987), etc.

I also got more interested in Fox-Hunting beginning in 1983.
Participated in many local and national events such as:
ORARI National Field Day in Cibubur-Jakarta 1984 (2nd place),
Pandaan-Malang 1985 (1st place), Semarang (1987), Palembang (1989), etc.

In 1985, I wrote a simple Morse Tutor in Basic to help everyone learned
the code with their PC.
I am proud of the work which had been used by many Indonesian amateurs
to improve their capabilitiy in the morse code.

My other favorite form of communication is Packet Radio beginning in 1987.
On air for the first time using a PC-XT, KPC-2 TNC and IC-4N,
connected to the "ZeroNet", a packet radio network in the Jakarta area.

In 1996 I awarded a first class of Amateur Radio Commendation from
Ministry of Post Telecommunications and Tourism.
At present I am as a member of Advisory Council of ORARI DKI Jakarta.

From 1991 to date my activities in amateur radio slowed down,
my job in the IT department and playing with my sons and daughter
took much of my spare times.

Packet Radio is the only amateur radio activity which I'm still active to date.
Also, I am operating an internet-based BBS (Bulletin Board System)
named "HamNet Indonesia".
Founded in 1990, it contains amateur radio related materials
and formerly using FBB BBS system.

At present, the system has FTP, Telnet, Web and Email server,
open 24 hours on UHF (431.700) with 19200 bps and connected to the
Amateur Packet Radio Network (AMPR) via yc0zpv.ampr.org gateway.
The BBS also could be accessed by phone line (tel 62-21-420-7962).

The main service provided is The Electronic Callbook (e-Callbook),
an email-based callsign look up and automatic data maintenance.
The e-Callbook contains Indonesian amateur radio callsigns
and could be accessed from around the world using internet email.

Finally, many thanks to my family, parents, friends who supported my interest in amateur radio, and all of you who have visited my website.

I am always interested in contributions to this site from those of you who have experiences which you think would be of value to the amateur community at large.
Comments and suggestions are also highly appreciated.
