This is an aerial view of the Field Day 2002 site at the Indianriverside Park in Jensen Beach, FL. In the area of the red box we set up our CAT trailer, a recreational vehicle, and all of the other logistical items necessary to have a safe and effective Field Day. Our antennas included a G5RV strung up between the main building and a palm tree near the pavilion and a tri-band beam that was mounted on a pushup pole. While rain threatened the entire weekend, we remained dry and On-the-Air for 22 hours straight and made numerous contacts on 2, 6, 10, 15, 20, 40, and 80 meters in both phone and CW modes. What a great event to share with our friends from MCARA and many thanks to them for their participation and financial support for the weekend's event.

From the road outside of the park we advertised to the passers-by. Many stopped by and all were supportive.

In the top left you can see the 2 meter and 6 meter quad that was used on the high bands. In the left foreground is the HF station which put the tri-band beam to good use. In the right forground is Walt's choo-choo which served food for dozens of hungry operators.

The tribander was a bit of a struggle to put up and provided one of the best lessons of the weekend. Whenever you are raising a pushup pole with an antenna installed on it, remember to use the ropes to raise the pole. Do not walk up the pole like stepping a sailboat mast or the pole will kink as ours did. The fortunate part of this lesson learned is that no one was injured and the antenna was not damaged.
